CONSIDERATION

1. Special nature of Letterpress printing is as follow;

– Printing presses the mold which has text and image on the paper, it makes the resulting in a tactile impression the paper surface, and you can feel.

SOLID PRINTING on uncoated paper, while Letterpress does lay down a thick film of ink, the process tends to show the texture of the paper card. Also, solid areas do not give the appearance of depth that fine type and thin lines do. Solid areas can also cause the paper to ripple.
Customers often confused between LETTERPRESS PRINTING with EMBOSSING, DEBOSSING, and FOIL/HOT STAMPING which the substantive as follows;

LETTERPRESS PRINTING is relief printing which use a thick metal mold or polymer plate for the etching process until remain the raised surface. The raised surface is inked and then pressed into a sheet of paper. Erstwhile, there has an arrangement of the monotype and linotype to create the text you want to use as molds.
Ink mixing of Letterpress printing was depended on professional printer by manual. It didn’t have automatic mix by print machine. (Therefore, you can visit us for proof the color of card by yourself on print date. We will match a color as close to the color of you select.)
Be vertical of Letterpress printing was took quite a lot of time, compared with other printing systems. Especially, the job that prints with many colors. Because the printing process is similar to Silk screen printing “one color, one block”.
Letterpress printing is the printing systems that the mold has the difference level of surface. The raised surface of mold is ink and then pressed into a sheet of paper; it will present the text or image. The lower surface of mold is not inked; it will present the paper color.
Embossing is the method of paper forming by presses the paper raised. The result follows the mold.
Debossing is the method of paper forming by presses the paper deep. The result follows the mold.
Foil/Hot Stamping is the printing on the paper by use the mold that have a hot stamp on a foil (silver / gold). The result of hot stamp presses a foil to the surface of card. The foil may be having color or otherwise decorated.
Please acknowledge that Letterpress printing have a similar or different from other printing systems. (Please see more information in www.pressacard.com/knowledge )

2. You can visit us to see the sample of letterpress printing at Press A Card.
(Please see our map in www.pressacard.com/contact ) In order to actually see and touch the real work which has a tactile impression the paper surface.

Note: We do not want our customers to expect too much for the surface of the card from letterpress printing. Because there are other factors that could be a cause the difference of surface paper for each job, such as the design of artwork, mold, paper, and print the background color.

3. Limitation of printing is as follow;
1) Maximum size of card is 8 x 10 inch
2) Paper has 3 types;
• Cotton paper 600 gsm (color: egg shell)
• Coaster Tester 285 gsm, 570 gsm (color: off-white)
• Heidi 330 gsm, 530 gsm (Color: White, Craft, Grey, Black)

Note:
• For fold card, the paper should less than 300 gsm.
• The larger size means the weight control of press more difficult.

4. Designed to fit Letterpress
Artwork design that fit with Letterpress has difference from other technique. So, we summarized as follow;
Program:
• Use Adobe Illustrator.
Illustration:
• Photo cannot print. However, we can print the clipart as a monotone graphic.
• Drawing illustration should create by dark pen which over than 0.5 point.
• Adjust the illustration to sharp black and white.
Color:
• Use the Spot color.
• Specify the color by Pantone system.
• Color per page should not over than 2 colors.
• Separate each layer of color including adjust each layer to sharp black and white.
• Don’t use double layer of color.
Set up:
• Set the size of file by use actual size of your printing.
• Set the bleed of each side as 3 mm for trim the margin of paper.
Fonts:
• Font size in the card should over than 8 point.
• Light weight font isn’t recommended for the small font.
Stroke line:
• Stroke size of graphic design should over than 0.5 point.
Final Artwork:
• Create outline the texts including text in symbol too.
• Create crop mark for each layer.
• Send artwork including the “jpg file” by save as to jpg.

Press A Card

2) กระดาษมีให้เลือก 3 ชนิด;

(Program):
Adobe Illustrator
(Illustration):
(Color):
Pantone
(Set up):
(Fonts):
8 point
(Stroke line):
0.5 point
(Final Artwork):
Layer
